Colonial knots

One of my favourite stitches.  I must have done hundreds over time.

Here’s a quick tutorial on how I create one.

Bring your thread through to the right side, slide your needle halfway under your thread.left-right. It feels a bit cack-handed but it’ll work, honest.



Next swivel the needle around against the thread, the needle’s now facing in the opposite direction and the thread has wrapped itself around it.



Wrap the thread around the pointed end of the needle again.



Pull the thread up to a knot.


Stitch back through the fabric, close to where you came up.


Voila! You have a knot.
